Self-Help's 100th House!!

       Self-Help is an organization based right here in triangle with a simple mission: creating and protecting ownership and economic opportunity for people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities.
       Basically, it's not enough to build a house and give it to someone who needs it. Self-Help takes it several steps forward by protecting that ownership. Self-Help works with the architects to make sure the homes are energy efficient so that new owners are not saddled with big monthly bills. Self-Help also works with the home buyers to get them affordable loans through several local organizations.
Self-Help has a lot to celebrate, but this past Saturday was a big day, even for them! This is their 100th house!! Self-Help sent out an all-call to their partners, community members, and home owners and threw themselves a block party.
      It was indeed a party, complete with Locopops keeping us cool, OnlyBurger filling our tummies and laughing kids everywhere. I'm so glad I got to be a part of this great event.
